SRA Compliant Website Design
Built for London Solicitors
Full compliance with SRA Transparency Rules built into every website. Price transparency, digital badge, and complaints procedure — not bolted on, but fundamental.
SRA Compliance Is Not Optional
Since December 2023, all SRA-regulated law firms in England and Wales must comply with Transparency Rules on their websites. This means displaying your SRA number, digital badge, complaints procedure, and price information for specific regulated services.
Failure to comply isn't just a regulatory risk — it's a trust issue. Potential clients who visit your website and can't find basic information about your firm, your prices, or how to make a complaint will leave. And they won't come back.
At lawyerslondon.uk, we build SRA compliance into every website from day one. It's not an add-on or an afterthought — it's fundamental to how we design and develop solicitor websites.
What the SRA Requires on Your Website
The SRA Transparency Rules require regulated firms to display the following mandatory elements.
SRA Firm Number
Clearly visible on every page of your website, typically in the footer. Must be the correct registration number for your firm.
SRA Digital Badge
A clickable badge that links directly to your firm's record on the SRA register. Must be prominently displayed — not hidden in a submenu.
Complaints Procedure
Your internal complaints process, the right to refer to the Legal Ombudsman, their contact details, and time limits for complaints.
Services Requiring Mandatory Price Publication
Regulated services require price information to be published directly on your website — not buried in PDFs or behind "contact us" forms.
For Individual Clients
| Service | What Must Be Published |
|---|---|
| Residential conveyancing | Freehold sales/purchases, leasehold sales/purchases, mortgages, remortgages |
| Estate administration | Uncontested estates where UK assets are involved |
| Immigration applications | All applications (excluding asylum) |
| First-tier Tribunal | Immigration and visa appeals |
| Magistrates' Court | Summary road traffic offences |
| Employment Tribunal | Unfair/wrongful dismissal claims |
For Business Clients
| Service | What Must Be Published |
|---|---|
| Employment Tribunal | Defence representation |
| Debt recovery | Up to £100,000 |
| Business premises licensing | Applications |
Important: If your firm offers any of these services, price information must be published on your website. There are no exceptions.
What Your Price Information Must Include
For each regulated service, your price information must include all of the following elements:
- Total cost — Or estimated average/range
- Basis of charges — Hourly rates or fixed fees
- Experience and qualifications — Of the person doing the work
- Disbursements — With costs (e.g., court fees, land registry fees)
- VAT treatment — Whether VAT is charged and at what rate
- What's included — Key stages and likely timescales
- CFA/DBA details — Where applicable, circumstances in which the client may have to pay
Common SRA Compliance Mistakes
Many firms get these wrong — and the consequences range from regulatory investigation to lost clients.
| Mistake | Why It's a Problem |
|---|---|
| Burying pricing in a PDF | The SRA expects clear, accessible pricing on the website — not a downloadable document |
| "Contact us for a quote" | Doesn't satisfy the price transparency requirement. Must show actual prices or estimates |
| Missing key stages and timescales | Price information must include what's covered and expected duration |
| No complaints procedure | Mandatory requirement. Must include Legal Ombudsman contact details |
| No SRA digital badge | Must be present, clickable, and prominent on every page |
| Incomplete pricing | All disbursements, VAT, and key stages must be included |
| Pricing only for some services | All regulated services require price publication — no selective compliance |
